If you’d like to be involved in the student showcase, come down to class, start learning and organise your registration with your instructor(s)! Showcase routines will be starting in July, so don’t miss out your classes and secure your spot for Hyped Up vol.3!!

Dancekool students’ Showcase involves more than 100 students, 18 instructors from all style and 24 different showcases. Check out the timetable and join as many showcases as you feel like!

The purpose of this battle is to encourage female dancers to get down on battles!!
(note: dance instructors are not allowed to enter together)

AYAMI KATO biography:
Born and raised in Shizuoka, Japan.
Basic training in ballet and jazz dance
- Choreographed YAMAHA musical school theater performances.
- Performed and choreographed at fashion shows, corporate functions club gigs in Japan and New York.
Currently studying at Broadway Dance Center, Peri Dance Center and Djoniba Dance Center in:
* waacking (archie, tyrone proctor, aus ninja)
* vogue (archie, benny ninja)
* house (brian green, ejoe, marjory)
* hiphop (luam, rhapsody, jonte, sheryl murakami)
* African (idrissa, )

Ayami Kato from Japan, trained in NYC and Karen Siu will be teaching a sassy, classy sexy dance workshop influenced by wackin and vogue mixed with some booty shaking to Lady Ga Ga and Beyonce’s “Telephone”.

Koh is the finalist of the Locking battle of Dancekool Vol.24. He is also the organizer of the Funk Battle/Jam that took place at Dancekool on Sunday 18th of april.

Koh has been dancing for many years. He has started teaching and choregraphing in Japan and he is now sharing his knowledge in Australia.

He is teaching at Dancekool a really unique dance style: Soul Waacking. Waacking is a style of dance that came up in the 70’s. It was born in the club environments but through television shows like Soul Train, it became very popular. This dance was developed to imitate stars/actresses/divas in silent films by utilizing complex arm movements, lines & poses. Their movement would be very developed and their musicality would be pushed. Waacking is now starting to resurface and it’s popularity is starting to grow as never before. Since then, waacking has evolved not just in it’s musical & cultural origins but also it started to appear in more and more other dance styles like; Jazz, House, Hip Hop etc.
